This and That
Happy Friday! Omg, HOW is it September already? I cannot believe that we are coming up on 6 months since this whole covid mess started. It seems like I blinked and summer is over already. I know lots of home bloggers are sharing fall content and decor but I’m over here holding firmly onto summer. The only thing I like about fall are the sweaters. {Speaking of, I got this one from the Nordstrom Sale that just ended and I can confirm that it is worth every penny. I would pay full price for it, that’s how much I love it!}
Let’s see, what happened around here this week? Oh, that’s right, I remember now: WE CRUSHED WEEK 1 OF VIRTUAL SCHOOL! It went so well, much better than I expected it to. The teachers were organized and really great with the online kids (they are teaching f2f and virtual at the same time). There were some minor hiccups but I had no expectations that it would be perfect. I was so proud of my kids – they both took it seriously and did their best. This is not easy and they rocked it! While they both said they would eventually prefer to be in school if they can, both also said that they like being home and doing school this way. I think the extra long lunch break helps, lol. All in all, it was a great first week!
One of the downfalls to virtual school is that my kids don’t get their specials classes – gym, health, STEM, art and music. So I decided that we will do STEM and art ourselves. I’ve always been curious about Kiwi Co.’s crate kits and decided to take the plunge and order some to help with STEM. I signed both of my kids up for the Tinker Crate monthly subscription. The first one should be coming soon and I’m excited to give them a try! If you are interested, you can purchase through my referral link here and you’ll get $10 to use (and so will I!).
I started reading Majesty this week. Honestly, I put it down about 1/3 of the way through. I just couldn’t get into it. It’s the sequel to American Royals and I just wasn’t digging it. I also got Big Summer from the library and I’m going to start that one next. These books were all on my most anticipated books for summer blog post and I’m glad I’ve finally moved up the waiting list to start receiving them!
This week I posted about my Blue and White Coastal Powder Room Makeover. Man, it feels so good to have that project (mostly) done! I saw that the vanity we ordered to finish off the powder room makeover is on sale this weekend!
Friday Favorites
I came across this house from my Home Exteriors board on Pinterest and I just love it. It reminds me of summer (remember I’m still in denial?). I love the breezeway and of course, am obsessed with anything that looks Nantucket-style.
I’ve noticed a few things that caught my eye this week, including this desk chair that I ordered for each of my kids. My son got the blue one and my daughter got pink. I wanted them to have comfortable chairs to sit in and I figure I should be able to resell these pretty easily in a local Facebook group if/when they go back to school and we no longer need them.
I also found this dining table and I love it! It’s a little bit of a different style for me. Add it to the top of the list for the dining room options! The price is great and it gets lots of good reviews. The chairs that I’ve had my eye on are on sale this weekend for the lowest price I’ve seen them yet!
I thought this rope chandelier was really pretty and loved this McGee and Co. footstool from Target. You can take 20% off one furniture item from Target for this weekend only. This coffee table is a great piece to use your discount on too! You can check out my favorite picks from the upcoming Studio McGee Fall Release right here.
