This and That
Hi friends! Happy Friday! I didn’t get a blog post up this week but sometimes that’s just the way it goes!
If I’m being honest, I’ve been struggling a bit lately – just with needing some space and feeling overwhelmed by all the people here all.the.time. School starts in 3 weeks and omg, I am so not mentally prepared for another round of at home learning. I’m just trying to soak in the last days of summer.
I’ve also felt really discouraged by fun things I see and hear about other people doing. I was having a pity/angry party this week. Nearly 6 years ago, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and me/cfs (chronic fatigue syndrome following the flu). It’s been a really long hard road back to health and I’m still not 100%. Most days I don’t let what I’ve lost bother me but when I see people getting to go on vacations or letting their kids do activities while we’re stuck at home to protect my health, it just feels incredibly unfair. I try to remind myself that we are safe here and at the end of the day, it’s all that matters.
So to combat some of that pity party, I’ve been doing a bunch of scrapbooking. It’s one of my favorite hobbies that I haven’t made nearly enough time for in the last 4 years. The weather was rainy and not super warm for much of the early week so I moved a bunch of stuff into the dining room so I could work on some projects. I also signed up for this Stop the Blur class – I grabbed this album and these inserts to get me started!
In better news, today was actually nice out so we had our annual water balloon war. It’s just something silly that the kids and I do every year – it’s kids vs. mom and we all love it!
And last, I just downloaded The Jetsetters from the library. I’ve been waiting a while for this one so I will report back next week on what I thought!
When I came across this house, from Gretchen Black, I think my jaw hit the floor. This home’s exterior is just perfection! I love the brown cedar shake mixed with the blue shutters. Seriously, what a dream home!
I’ve noticed a few things that caught my eye this week, including several items from Nordstrom Rack! This rattan and rope mirror, this pink dress (would be so pretty for summer pictures!) and this adorable coastal artwork were all my faves! I also loved this affordable rattan pendant light. You can see how a designer used it in her home here. It’s so beautiful!
This pink rug caught my eye in my new issue of HGTV magazine too! And last, I’ve had my eye on this Shelter Sofa from West Elm (20% off right now) for a really long time for our playroom. My son was being silly and jumping around on our current couch today and I could hear the springs practically hitting the floor. We need a new one so badly so I am definitely considering it.
