This and That
I swear, I don’t know where the time is going. We aren’t doing anything or going anywhere and the time is still just flying by. Even though we have mostly been home for the past 4 months (like I could probably count on 10 fingers the number of times I have been inside a store, etc.), I have to say that we really have made the best of it.
Sure, I like to complain about my kids driving me crazy but I know that when we think back on this time, I’m going to be grateful for it. I hope that my kids won’t remember feeling nervous or scared but instead remember that they got to stay up extra late and Dad was home all spring and summer and Mom let them keep a fort up in the family room for 2 months. They might remember that we didn’t get to go on vacation or do summer sports and school was super weird but I hope they also remember that they watched a ton of 80’s and 90’s movies with Mom and started reading The Baby-Sitter’s Club and discovered that they love Marble Run tournaments. I hope that we’ve covered up the uncertainty with fun and silliness and just being together.
Anyways, now that I’ve gone all sentimental on you, let’s talk about what I’ve been up to this week.
I finished Meet Cute and my review is: meh. It’s ok. Worth reading but not my favorite by any means. I also read The Heir Affair, the sequel to The Royal We. My review on it is mixed. This one was a little more, I don’t know, depressing isn’t the right word but darker maybe? All in all, I still liked it and am glad I read it because I love the characters and am happy to see how their stories wrapped up. Now I’m not sure what to read next – anyone have any good suggestions?
We watched Hamilton with the kids this week too – well, my with my daughter at least. We told my son that in order to get the popcorn and candy, he had to watch the first few songs. He did it and then he was over it and he and his popcorn watched something on his iPad instead. 😉
Laundry room hanging rod update: zero progress has been made for those of you following along.
Friday Favorites
My favorite room that I noticed this week was from Ballard Designs. I got their catalog and spotted this striped fabric on the cover and immediately went and ordered a sample of it. These chairs look amazing in it too! We have an oversized armchair that desperately needs recovering and I loved this fabric so much. It’s performance fabric so I am going to put it to the test when I receive it. Anything I buy has to be stain proof this time around. Anyways, I love the look of this room – bright and airy without being too matchy-matchy. Our family room needs some sort of overhaul but I haven’t figured out what’s bugging me about it yet.
Serena and Lily is having their tent sale this week and they have some great things. I don’t know about you but S&L is not typically in my budget so I love when they have a sale. I found these pillows here, here, here and here and these awesome outdoor chairs! I also love this wallpaper and have my eye on it for our foyer makeover. It’s not on sale but I only need one roll so it won’t be too terribly expensive.

I’ve noticed a few things that caught my eye this week, including this amazing wood dresser that would be perfect for said foyer makeover, this rattan lamp that I featured in my rattan and wicker roundup yesterday and this beautiful tv console that has matching tower shelves! I’ve also got a list of the hottest sales going on this weekend if you want to check them out below, including my all-time favorite console!
