It’s the most wonderful tiiiiime of the year! If you’ve been in a store at all recently, then you know that Christmas is in full swing. That’s why I’m sharing my traditional red and green Christmas decor guide with you today. So, you can get all of the good stuff before it sells out!

I mentioned in my blush and metallic decor guide post that I love to decorate with anything sparkly. And that’s totally true (you can see how I decorate my foyer tree here) but for our main tree in our family room (and our dining room tree), I usually stick to a traditional red and green Christmas decor color scheme.

Our family room tree is full of sentimental ornaments collected over the years. Some are from my childhood, some from vacations (that’s my favorite souvenir!) and some are my kid’s ornaments that we started collected for them. It may not be a fancy, Pinterest inspired tree but there’s something magical about unwrapping each of the ornaments every year and reminiscing about where it came from. I love all of the homemade ornaments from school and the photo ornaments from each year to remind me just how quickly time is flying by.

As you can see from my mantle, the traditional red and green (and white and silver) Christmas decor color scheme just continues right on! I tend to switch things up every year but I really, really loved this one last year. So I think I just might do it again! I struggled to keep the garland looking right until I realized that 3M makes these handy hooks that don’t ruin your paint and keep everything in place!

There are tons of amazing red and green Christmas decorations out right now! And make sure to keep checking for sales and discounts that you can stack to save even more money! Do you have a favorite? I saw that chenille plaid blanket in person and it’s soooo soft and cozy! The red letterboard would be super fun with some favorite Christmas movie quotes and those pom pom stockings are just the cutest!
