We’ve had this dresser in our foyer since we moved in almost 10 years ago. It was left behind by a previous owner at my mom’s house and at our old house, I painted it black. As our current house style started moving towards modern coastal, I decided to paint it this bright turquoise color. We’ve loved it for years but lately, I’ve just been finding myself feeling tired of it. I’m not sure if it’s the color or the style but I’d like to do something different. I’d also ideally like to have wiped down that mirror before I took this picture too, lol! Whoops! And yes, that is a giant #7 balloon in my kitchen. I wanted to be able to show as much of the full wall as I could (without taking it dead on and getting myself in the mirror) and that meant getting a little of our messy kitchen in there too! #real life. 😉
Modern Coastal Inspiration
Here are some of the modern coastal foyer inspiration pieces I’ve found on Pinterest and Instagram for our new foyer.

As you can see, I’m aiming for light, bright and airy! I really like the idea of a large round mirror above the console table. I found at Hobby Lobby that I think will work – I’m just waiting for it to go on sale. It’s a large size and it should work well with our wall size. (Here is another great option for a – I think it’s just a touch too small for us). I’ve been obsessed with this mirror from forever but it’s more than I want to spend and I’m not sure the size will work.
I’m also debating between an open console table with room for my favorite seagrass baskets or a closed cabinet-style table table. This table from McGee and Co. (in the second picture above) is my dream table but the price tag is way too steep for me! Target makes a of it so that is one I’d definitely consider if it’s long enough.
Wallpaper
I’ve also considered adding some wallpaper to the wall for a bright focal point when you walk in the door. (And by “we”, I mean my mom because I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler, let alone cut one. Ha! Love you Mom!) Here is one that I love!
Console Tables
I’ve gathered up some console tables that I really like and think will work well in our new modern coastal space. Cost is definitely going to play a major factor in this decision! One thing I have considered is just repainting or stripping the current dresser that we have because the size really works here but that option isn’t my first choice. I’ve never loved that the bottom two drawers don’t match the rest and I’m not sure I want to go through all of the work to strip it and then not love it in the end. I am hoping to be able to reuse this dresser in our laundry room because I do like all of the storage it provides.
One idea that I am strongly considering is to use 2 of that we have in our bedroom. I am in love with this cabinet and even though it isn’t an open shelf table, I think it would work for our foyer. Unfortunately, they are sold out right now but I’m not in any rush to do this so I can definitely wait it out.

I also really love and from , this one and this one from Wayfair and from WalMart . I absolutely adore this scalloped sideboard from the inspiration picture above but it’s just too expensive for me!
As you can see, I have no shortage of good options which makes this decision difficult! Do you have a favorite? Drop me a comment below and let me know which one you would choose!
